Installing Rheem Hot Water Systems
Because your home needs will change as your family grows or your property is extended, it’s important that you check over your options for hot water system replacement types and sizes with one of our professional plumbers and get a free quote on the best systems to suit your needs.
Some of the factors that need to be taken into account to determine the right hot water system include:
- The number of occupants
- The number of bathrooms
- Any teenagers at home (they’ll use more water than when they were kids)
- How many warm and hot laundry loads you do a week
- Any bathtubs or spas that get regular use
- The space for your water heater location
- If any natural gas or solar energy is available
As well as your personal preferences and needs your hot water system choice and maintenance schedule will be influenced by the water treatments of your Canberra suburb, climate as well as the available water pressure.
It’s important to include regular maintenance as part of your hot water heater purchase. While the tanks and main system may have a warranty for ten years or more, smaller individual parts may need changing every few years. Having maintenance can ensure those parts that are more frail are swapped out before they fail so you will stay in hot water for the life of your heating unit.
Our Fluid Plumbing team take the time to make sure your Rheem hot water heater is installed perfectly and running at maximum efficiency. If we need to move the location or change your hot water type so that you receive better energy efficiency or hot water care over the next 10-15 years, we’ll be sure to let you know well ahead of time and explain the costs.
Benefits of Rheem
Decades of experience, quality materials and striving for perfection are the foundations of Rheem’s modern range of Rheem hot water heating systems. This has given them a reputation as one of the best water heating brands on the market for quality, durability and innovation. For example, they were the first supplier globally to offer a five-star gas hot water heater and can now offer energy ratings of 7-stars.
Rheem also offers extended warranties across their full range of hot water systems to give you added peace of mind as well as knowing that Rheem electric water heaters are made right here in Australia through an Australian-owned and operated company.

Rheem Electric Hot Water Systems
A feature of the Rheem hot water system range is their electric storage hot water heaters ranging from the compact 25 Litre all the way up to 400 Litre tanks for large families. Rheem electric systems use the traditional operating method of storing hot water in a quality tank cylinder to deliver to the required tap or showerhead when needed. Some of Rheem’s electric hot water heaters can tap into ‘off peak’ grid energy rates, so you get greater control of your ongoing costs and still get to enjoy a hot shower on cold mornings.
The Rheem electric hot water offering also carries continuous flow hot water systems. These take a little longer to deliver hot water to your tap but offer significantly more energy efficiency as you are only heating water as needed, avoiding heat loss through tanks that might spend hours a day not being used.
Continuous flow systems are much more compact so they are suitable for smaller homes. You’ll pay a bit more upfront but most families see that extra cost back in their wallet through yearly energy savings – provided you can drag yourself away from the endless supply of hot water.
Sizes range from 12L to 27L and come with a 6-star energy efficiency rating.
Rheem Stellar Stainless Steel Hot Water Heaters
Rheem Stellar Stainless Steel water heaters look attractive and are specifically designed for incredible performance. They are as much as 40 kilos lighter than traditional tanks of the same size making them easier to handle, transport and install, yet they have a similar footprint, allowing our Fluid Plumbing installers to position them in the same location as your previous water heater and save costs using the same connections – in most cases.
The stainless steel cylinder comes backed by a 12-year warranty. The quality material is not prone to corrosion like regular tank systems, meaning they don’t need the standard sacrificial anode and you won’t need to conduct maintenance checks to have those changed over.
Stellar stainless steel electric models are 12% to 24% more efficient than the Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS). A lot of this comes from clever heat-loss prevention which means your tank will retain its heat and use less energy. In some cases, you can also opt to set it to off-peak energy tariffs which is not only cheaper, but you are reducing the strain on energy demands during peak times.
